AI code detector · Python
Paste a Python file below and get an AI-likelihood score with the snippets that drove it. Use it to decide what deserves a closer read — not to decide a case.
Screening signal only. Review flagged code before you act on it.
An AI code detector for Python analyzes Python source code for patterns associated with AI-generated output and returns an AI-likelihood score with highlighted snippets. The result is a screening signal: it helps teachers and interviewers decide which files deserve a closer human read, not a determination of who wrote the code.
AI-written Python is often unusually tidy: strict PEP 8-style formatting, a docstring on every function, textbook variable names, and none of the small inconsistencies that accumulate in a student's own work over a semester. Tidy code is not proof of anything — plenty of careful developers write clean Python, and auto-formatters like Black make human code look uniform too. That is why the report highlights the exact snippets that drove the score, so a person can judge the pattern in context.
Python is one of the languages covered by both human-written and AI-generated samples in our most recent evaluation (October 8, 2026). Read the limits →
Files with fewer than 10 non-empty lines of code are not scored — very short snippets do not carry enough signal to be useful.
Yes, for single files. Paste one Python file and run the check with no account. Batch uploads, saved scan history, and report export require an account — current plan details are on the pricing page.
They can. Strict auto-formatting makes human Python look more uniform, and uniform code is one of the patterns associated with AI output. If a flagged file was auto-formatted, read the highlighted snippets before reading too much into the score.
No. The check looks for patterns associated with AI-generated Python in general. It cannot attribute code to a specific model or product, and no detector can. Treat the result as a pointer for review, not an attribution.
No. Files with fewer than 10 non-empty lines of code are rejected rather than scored, because short snippets do not carry enough signal. Single files up to 25,000 characters are accepted.
Read the highlighted snippets first, then compare the file with earlier work from the same author. If concern remains, ask the author to explain or extend the code. A score is a reason to look closer, never a conclusion. See /accuracy for the full review workflow.
