AI code detection for Java, built for human review

Paste a Java file below and get an AI-likelihood score with the snippets that drove it. Use it to decide what deserves a closer read — not to decide a case.

Screening signal only. Review flagged code before you act on it.

An AI code detector for Java analyzes Java source code for patterns associated with AI-generated output and returns an AI-likelihood score with highlighted snippets. The result is a screening signal: it helps teachers and interviewers decide which files deserve a closer human read, not a determination of who wrote the code.

Java boilerplate cuts both ways

Java is verbose by design: getters, setters, class scaffolding, framework boilerplate. That code looks alike whether it came from a student, an IDE, or an AI tool, so the useful signal concentrates in the parts of the file that contain real logic. When you review a flagged Java file, start with the highlighted snippets and give the scaffolding a pass — boilerplate proves nothing either way.

What the report gives you

  1. A per-file AI-likelihood score for each Java file.
  2. Highlighted snippets that contributed most to the score.
  3. An exportable report for your review notes (PDF or CSV, with an account).

Java is one of the languages covered by both human-written and AI-generated samples in our most recent evaluation (October 8, 2026). Read the limits →

Files with fewer than 10 non-empty lines of code are not scored — very short snippets do not carry enough signal to be useful.

Questions

Is the Java check free?

Yes, for single files. Paste one Java file and run the check with no account. Batch uploads, saved scan history, and report export require an account — current plan details are on the pricing page.

Does Java boilerplate cause false flags?

It can. Getters, setters, and framework scaffolding look similar whether written by a person, an IDE, or a model. The score is most meaningful on the parts of the file with real logic — read the highlighted snippets and discount the boilerplate.

Does it work on Android or Spring code?

It screens Java source code in general, including Android and Spring files. Framework-heavy files contain more generated boilerplate, so give the highlighted logic snippets more weight than the scaffolding around them.

Can it tell whether ChatGPT, Copilot, or another tool wrote the code?

No. The check looks for patterns associated with AI-generated Java in general. It cannot attribute code to a specific model or product, and no detector can. Treat the result as a pointer for review, not an attribution.

What should I do after a high score on a Java file?

Read the highlighted snippets first, then compare the file with earlier work from the same author. If concern remains, ask the author to explain or extend the code. A score is a reason to look closer, never a conclusion. See /accuracy for the full review workflow.
